The Importance of Singing

39. The Christian faithful who gather together as one to await the Lord’s  coming are instructed by the Apostle Paul to sing together psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs (cf. Col 3:16). Singing is the sign of the heart’s joy (cf. Acts 2:46). Thus St. Augustine says rightly, “Singing is for one who loves.”[48] There is also the ancient proverb: “One who sings prays twice.” From the General Instruction of the Roman Missal.

Children's Choir (Grades 2-8)

For the Children's Choir, rehearsals are scheduled on Thursday’s, beginning in  September, (check the current bulletin for exact date) from 5:45 to 6:45 in the choir loft at Holy Cross Church. Children in Grades 2 through 8 are warmly encouraged to join! The Children’s Choir will sing on the first Sunday of each month at the 10:00 AM Mass, for Christmas Eve, Easter Sunday and First Holy Communion at Divine Mercy Parish.

Adult Choir

For the Adult Choir rehearsals are scheduled on Thursday’s, beginning in  September, (check the current bulletin for exact date)  in the choir loft of Holy Cross Church. The Music Ministry at Divine Mercy Parish is always looking for new people (men and women - no age limit) to join the choir.  The choir sings at alternating weekend Masses as well as for our Christmas Midnight Mass and Easter Vigil. The choir is comprised of  volunteers who offer their time and talent to enhance the worship experience of the entire parish.  Won't you please prayerfully consider joining us this year!  No special training or experience is necessary to join.

Funeral Choir

Do you love to sing and have thought about joining the Adult Choir but cannot make rehearsals on Thursday evenings?  Problem solved! Join the Funeral Choir! No rehearsals required! The Funeral Choir will participate in song during funeral liturgies in support of the family and friends who gather to pray for their loved one. For questions about a particular choir ministry, please call the Director of  Music Ministry  Ms. Elizabeth M. Hartnett, at 609.977.6604.
